A dispute concerning a woman's stay at her parental home culminated in a double tragedy in Hingoli district on Wednesday evening. The incident saw a man allegedly kill his wife and severely injure his mother-in-law during an intervention. The accused subsequently died by suicide by hanging himself from a tree near the scene.
Identified as Vishal Dongre and Deepali Paikrao, both in their mid-20s, the couple were from farming families. Deepali had reportedly returned to her parents' home in Kharwad village due to alleged marital harassment. Despite Vishal's repeated requests for her return, Deepali remained with her parents.
On Wednesday evening, an argument erupted when Vishal visited the farm to persuade Deepali. The dispute turned violent when Vishal allegedly struck Deepali with a wooden plank, causing her death. Her mother, Kamalbai, was injured when she attempted to stop the assault. Police registered a murder case against Vishal based on Kamalbai's complaint.
