24 Oct
Summary
- National Assembly summoned Punjab police officials over Hina Javed's murder.
- DNA evidence reportedly matches domestic servant's blood with crime scene samples.
- Hina Javed's family mistrusts police, demands judicial commission.

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control has summoned top Punjab police officials, including the IGP, RPO, and CPO Rawalpindi, to a meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2026. These officials are expected to provide a briefing on the ongoing investigation into the alleged brutal murder of Hina Javed.
A three-member high-powered committee, comprising Additional IG Sohail Chatta, DIG Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, and SSP Saifullah, has already been formed by the Punjab government to review the investigation. This panel has visited Rawalpindi, questioned Hina Javed's husband and domestic servant, who are currently on judicial remand at Adiala Jail, and inspected the crime scene.
Evidence from the postmortem and DNA reports suggests Hina Javed endured severe torture, with marked blue bruises on her limbs and a significant neck wound. Crucially, DNA from bloodstains and potential strangulation materials reportedly matches that of the domestic servant.
Despite these findings, Hina Javed's family has expressed profound mistrust in the Rawalpindi police and the CCD chief's conclusions. They are calling for the establishment of a judicial commission to conduct an independent probe, alleging that the police may be attempting to shield the main perpetrator while focusing on the domestic servant.
