Hessle Car Park Gets Lockable Barrier to Curb ASB
23 Oct
Summary
- A lockable barrier is now at Hessle Foreshore's mill car park.
- The barrier aims to stop loud music, horns, and litter from ASB.
- Police have also implemented a Public Space Protection Order.
A permanent lockable barrier has been installed at the mill car park on Hessle Foreshore to address ongoing anti-social behaviour. Residents and authorities reported issues including loud music, car horns, littering, and dangerous driving such as doughnuts. East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the Community Safety Partnership funded the automated barrier following a successful trial that demonstrated a reduction in ASB reports.
Humberside Police have also implemented a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to further curb incidents. Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Matt Wilson stated that proactive actions, including seizing uninsured vehicles and conducting checks, have been taken. The barrier will be closed overnight, with exact timings to be confirmed. Authorities encourage the public to report any ASB incidents.
