A woman recently appeared at the Rose Bay police station, posing as Yang to fulfill bail reporting obligations. This incident occurred subsequent to a significant collision on July 26, 2025, where Yang's $1.5 million Rolls-Royce Cullinan crashed into a Mercedes van, causing severe, potentially career-ending injuries to the chauffeur.
The woman who reported to the station on Wednesday, wearing designer clothing, presented herself as Yang. However, when confronted by a reporter, she admitted to being 'someone else.' Police are now investigating if Yang is currently residing at her Watsons Bay penthouse, as she has not been seen there since October 2025. The woman who reported for bail arrived in a black Rolls-Royce Ghost convertible, which she stated was not hers.
Yang, a Chinese national studying in Australia, faces serious charges including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving, failing to submit to a breath test, and not giving particulars to police. Her case has been mentioned five times in court since her arrest, with Yang never appearing in person. Her lawyer has stated she has mental health issues and rarely leaves home. A court appearance is expected later this month.
