Hazaribag police have arrested two individuals for the murder of a local businessman, Vicky Soni, who was fatally shot on the night of June 8 near Karso Bridge. The accused, identified as Vikram Kumar and his associate Dilip Kumar, were apprehended for a murder stemming from a personal feud.
Investigators revealed that Vikram, the victim's brother-in-law, meticulously planned the murder. He utilized the victim's social media updates about his pilgrimage to Kedarnath to track his movements. Vikram even posted selfies from railway stations to divert suspicion while traveling to Chandrapura in Bokaro.
The duo allegedly intercepted Vicky Soni near Karso Bridge when his vehicle's tyre got punctured, shot him in the neck, and fled. The case was cracked using technical evidence, mobile tracking, and witness accounts. A key piece of evidence emerged when one of the accused briefly activated his mobile phone in the Barhi area, enabling police to pinpoint his location.
Police further disclosed that Vikram and Dilip have multiple cases registered against them, including theft, robbery, and Arms Act violations. The motive for the murder was traced back to a strained relationship between Vikram and Vicky Soni due to ongoing personal disputes.
