- Their turbans were allegedly desecrated by attackers.
- Several villagers, including sarpanch's family, booked by police.

In Haryana's Yamunanagar district, police have registered a case against several individuals, including close relatives of the Ganaula village sarpanch, following an alleged assault on two Sikh youths and the desecration of their turbans. The incident, which occurred on April 29, came to light after a video showing the assault circulated widely on social media.
The victims, Amandeep Singh and his elder brother Harshdeep Singh, reported that they were attacked with sticks and iron rods by a group of villagers while heading to their agricultural fields. The FIR states that the accused not only assaulted the brothers but also allegedly mocked their Sikh identity and removed their turbans.
Further accusations include attempts to set the victims on fire with petrol while recording videos, intended to outrage religious feelings. The case was registered at Chhachhrauli police station on May 8, after Sikh community members protested and briefly blocked a national highway demanding swift action.
One of the accused, Gurpreet Singh, who is the sarpanch's husband, was arrested and subsequently released on bail by a court. The investigation is ongoing, with police assuring prompt and strict action against all those involved.
