Haryana police have significantly intensified their efforts against drug trafficking, reporting the arrest of 6,256 individuals in 2,353 cases involving commercial quantities of narcotics over the last six years. During this period, authorities successfully seized, froze, or attached properties valued at Rs 72.7 crore, which are believed to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade.
Further details revealed that between 2021 and 2025, 1,876 FIRs related to commercial quantities of narcotics were registered within the state, leading to the arrest of 3,151 accused. To combat organized trafficking, 156 habitual offenders were subject to preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act. Property attachment proceedings were also initiated against 432 individuals implicated in the drug trade.
The police are also monitoring Haryana residents arrested in NDPS cases outside the state, having shared details of 321 such accused with district units for verification and surveillance between 2021 and 2025. Looking ahead, an upcoming 'Drug-Free Haryana Campaign' will prioritize awareness generation and de-addiction initiatives statewide, underscoring a commitment to eliminating drug abuse.
