In Haridwar, a disturbing discovery was made at the Pathreshwar Mahadev temple in Athal village. Two seers, identified as Seva Giri and Paras Giri, were allegedly murdered and subsequently buried within the temple's grounds. Police exhumed their bodies from a pit late on Monday night, July 22, 2026, following an alert from an eyewitness.
The eyewitness reportedly noticed suspicious digging activities on the night of July 18 and later realized the two seers were missing. After informing a local devotee, law enforcement was alerted and quickly responded to the scene. Forensic teams examined the site where the bodies were recovered and sent them for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have registered a case against four suspects, including the temple's main priest, all of whom are currently at large. Police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the absconding individuals. Initial investigations suggest that a dispute over temple property or control of the premises may have instigated the crime.
