Summary
- Record seizure of fentanyl and GHB by Halifax Regional Police.
- Fentanyl street value estimated at $500,000, GHB at $500,000.

Halifax Regional Police announced a record-breaking drug seizure on September 4th, confiscating 6.2 kg of fentanyl, 1,400 fentanyl pills, and 10.5 litres of GHB from a Dartmouth home. This represents the largest quantity of fentanyl and GHB ever seized by the Halifax Regional Police, potentially being the largest of its kind in Atlantic Canada.
Officers estimate the bulk street value of the seized fentanyl at $500,000 and the GHB at another $500,000. The amount of fentanyl alone could potentially cause more than three million deaths. During the seizure on Elmwood Avenue, authorities also apprehended a handgun, with police expressing extreme concern over a 'glock switch' found with it.
Three individuals have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and firearms offences. Police suspect the drugs were brought into the region through organized crime, indicating that others may be involved. The investigation into this extensive operation remains ongoing.
