- Police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.

A tragic drive-by shooting that occurred at a boxing event last weekend has led to the indefinite closure of the Shdw Boxing Gym in Logan. The event, held at Fitzy's pub, resulted in the death of 19-year-old Vana-Reese Schuster-Togiatau, who succumbed to her injuries after being shot in the head and neck. Three other men sustained non-critical gunshot wounds.
Following Schuster-Togiatau's passing, gym co-owners Brenden Henwood and Brad Trevisan announced the difficult decision to close the gym indefinitely, citing that "things simply don't feel the same." They expressed a need to focus on families and support one another. Police have escalated the investigation to a homicide, with approximately 80 detectives involved, including specialized units.
Detective Inspector Ian Galpin stated that police are keeping an open mind regarding potential gang involvement but are prioritizing the identification of those responsible and the motive behind the attack. Queensland Police Minister Dan Purdie urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice. A fundraiser for the victim's family has garnered nearly $70,000.
