Gurgaon Woman Harassed by Hired Cook After Rejecting Him

On September 30, 2025, a Gurgaon woman's experience of hiring a cook through an agency took an alarming turn. According to the police, the woman, a resident of a society in Gwalpahari, had contacted an agency to hire a cook and domestic help. She had requested the agency to ensure proper verification of the workers before sending them.
On September 13, 2025, the agency sent a man named Vijay for a trial. However, after observing his work, the woman decided not to hire him. She also added that the agency had not conducted any police verification of the cook.
This refusal allegedly triggered the accused. For over 11 hours, Vijay sent threatening and abusive messages through the woman's mobile phone, social media accounts, and even on UPI payment platforms. In one of his threats, he allegedly warned that he would follow her Mercedes car with his gang, abduct her, and kill her.
The woman further stated in her complaint that Vijay also used derogatory language while repeatedly calling her. She filed a complaint at the DLF Phase 1 police station on September 29, 2025. An FIR was registered under sections 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused is yet to be arrested.
The police are conducting an inquiry with the agency. If the agency is found to be negligent in not conducting police verification, action will be taken against them as well. The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken once the facts are established.
