Gurgaon Bars Face Safety Checks Ahead of New Year Bash

Ahead of New Year's Eve festivities, Gurgaon authorities have initiated a stringent safety crackdown on nightclubs and bars. Approximately 3,000 police officers will be on duty on December 31st, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Mandatory inspections are being conducted to verify crowd management, emergency preparedness, and compliance with entry-exit requirements.

Establishments found to be deficient in these critical safety aspects will be issued immediate notices and face swift legal repercussions. Police Commissioner Vikas Arora has emphasized the need for secure entry/exit points, thorough frisking, clear emergency routes, and adherence to venue capacity limits. This special security drive involves all 36 police stations, with reorganized duty rosters to enhance rapid response capabilities.

Compounding these concerns, the fire department reports that a significant number of establishments—around 200 bars and restaurants out of 600—are operating without a fire No-Objection Certificate. Police have issued a zero-tolerance warning against any hooliganism or misconduct, urging citizens and operators to celebrate responsibly and report suspicious activities.
