In Gurgaon, a 40-year-old man, Malkit Singh, succumbed to injuries sustained weeks after he was allegedly beaten with sticks. The brutal assault occurred on October 8, 2024, when Singh intervened after witnessing individuals harassing and video recording women laborers in his fields. When Singh objected, the accused reportedly abused and threatened him before gathering a larger group. This group then assaulted Singh and his brother with sticks, with one assailant also firing a gunshot to intimidate them.
Following Singh's death, murder charges were added to the case registered at Sadar Taoru police station. A special investigation team (SIT) was constituted by the Haryana police, and the investigation was transferred to Gurgaon police. The SIT recently arrested Nazim, a resident of Kangarika village in Nuh district, identified as a key accused. To date, four individuals—Shabbir, Alam, Aamir, and Nazim—have been apprehended.
