The case originated from a complaint filed in January by a 22-year-old woman. She alleged that the accused, identified as 35-year-old Aarif, used a false identity to marry her and subsequently subjected her to assault and coercion, including attempts to force religious conversion.
Investigators reportedly found identity cards belonging to the accused under different names and faiths. Aarif is accused of posing as a Hindu man named 'Aarav' to gain the woman's trust and marry her in a temple. The complainant stated she faced assault and pressure to abort her pregnancy when she refused.
Further allegations include ongoing threats and violence from Aarif's family members, with continued pressure for religious conversion. Another individual, Tarif (34), has also been arrested in connection with the case.
