In Gurgaon, three police officers and a Special Police Officer (SPO) faced suspension after an ASI's car collided with a VIP pilot vehicle on New Year's Eve. The crash took place around 9:30 PM on December 31st, near the Sector 4/7 intersection by INOX Mall. The ASI, identified as Baljit, was allegedly driving his Hyundai Venue at high speed and made a U-turn, striking the pilot vehicle of city MLA Mukesh Sharma.
Witnesses reported that ASI Baljit appeared to be intoxicated and his car was missing a front number plate. A case was registered at New Colony police station against the officers for charges including rash driving and drunk driving under the Motor Vehicles Act. Disciplinary action was initiated for misconduct and violation of service rules.
While the ASI was not on duty at the time of the incident, an investigation is underway to confirm if he was under the influence of alcohol. This event has led to serious scrutiny of police conduct and adherence to safety protocols during public events.
