Gujarat's Food and Drug Control Administration has seized over Rs 35 lakh in suspected adulterated ghee and oils across Surat and Deesa. These actions follow a directive for strict enforcement against food adulteration.
In Surat, a factory producing ghee under the 'Shri Anmol Ratan Cow Ghee' brand was found operating without a license. Authorities seized 5,157 litres of this suspected adulterated ghee, valued at Rs 26.12 lakh, along with significant quantities of palmolein and soybean oil used for adulteration.
Further raids in Deesa by the Palanpur Circle team resulted in the seizure of 987 litres of ghee, estimated to be worth Rs 6,22,200, also suspected of being adulterated. Legal samples from all seized products have been collected and sent for laboratory examination.
Health Minister Praful Pansheriya warned that no one compromising public health through food adulteration would be spared, vowing to intensify the campaign against such practices in the coming days.
