A shocking murder case has emerged in Gujarat's Rajkot, stemming from a social media romance that took a fatal turn. The accused, Piyush Kumar Kharwar, allegedly killed his live-in partner, Chandan Kumar, after realizing Chandan was a man.
For nearly three years, Chandan posed as a woman named 'Nisha Kumar' and 'Poonam' on various social media platforms, leading Piyush to believe he was in a relationship with a woman. The couple began living together, but Chandan allegedly refused physical intimacy, citing religious reasons.
The relationship reportedly escalated into disputes after Piyush discovered Chandan's true gender while shaving. These arguments persisted as Piyush moved for work across different Indian states, with Chandan reportedly following him.
The fatal incident occurred on June 21 following a heated argument at a factory in Padvala village. Investigators allege Piyush subsequently took Chandan to a secluded spot near a railway track and attacked him with stones, attempting to conceal the body.
CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and intelligence led police to Piyush, who has confessed to the murder. He was arrested based on forensic evidence, CCTV footage, and witness accounts, with charges filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
