14 Mar
Summary
- Couple found dead in well 40 days after disappearance
- Father and uncle arrested for alleged honour killing
- Couple murdered due to opposition to their marriage

A disturbing case of honour killing has emerged in Gujarat, involving the deaths of Navin Rabari and Nathi alias Sonu Rabari. The young couple, who had been in a two-year relationship, went missing on February 3. Their decomposed bodies were recovered from a well near Khambhla village on Friday, approximately 40 days after their disappearance. Police have arrested Sonu's father, Vanka alias Raja Rabari, and his nephew, Soma alias Parbat Rabai, for the double murder.
Investigators revealed that Vanka allegedly orchestrated the killings because he opposed his daughter's relationship with Navin, whom he deemed unsuitable. The motive was reportedly to avoid dishonour within their community. The couple was allegedly strangled, and their bodies were disposed of in the well. Vanka and his family attempted to mislead investigators by filing a missing person's report for Sonu and feigning cooperation, while Vanka destroyed the couple's mobile phones to eliminate evidence.
