An investigation into suspected drug overdoses in Grimsby has led to the arrest of five men on suspicion of being involved in the supply of class A drugs. The arrests were made following reports on Thursday and Friday of four individuals becoming unwell after consuming suspected contaminated drugs; all four remain hospitalized. As part of the inquiry, police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at a Hope Street address to ascertain the cause of death and any potential drug link.
Humberside Police executed warrants at two addresses in Hainton Avenue and Daubney Street. Chief Superintendent Sharon Philpott stated that extensive inquiries are underway to establish connections between the incidents, considering the possibility of a contaminated drug batch. Police are collaborating with local authorities, drug and alcohol treatment services, and hospital trusts to offer support. Geoff Barnes, Deputy Director of Public Health for Northern Lincolnshire, advised drug users to take extra care and engage with available support services.
