In Grayson, a family's home was entered by a stranger on Tuesday night. The suspect, 26-year-old Jemere Davis, gained access through an unlocked door of the residence on Pinehaven Court. The home had been listed for sale, and relatives had intentionally left the door unlocked due to trust in the neighborhood.
Inside, Davis reportedly damaged a couch and a child's ride-on car. He also took a PlayStation 5 and other personal items belonging to the family. Neighbors encountered Davis outside the residence and reported he unusually asked if they wanted to party with him.
Law enforcement officers observed Davis driving away from the vicinity. A traffic stop was initiated shortly after midnight on Wednesday, leading to his arrest without incident. The stolen property was recovered by the police. Davis is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail and is charged with first-degree burglary.
