Police exhumed a grave on Monday, September 4, 2026, in connection with the unexplained death of a 57-year-old woman in 2022. The operation took place at Fenns Meadow Green Burial Ground near Whitchurch, Shropshire.
Authorities arrested a 62-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries. The investigation was initiated after Essex Police received information about the woman's death in Telford, which was then passed to West Mercia Police in May.
Forensic investigators in haz-mat suits were observed at the scene, where three large blue tents were erected around the grave. Police secured the perimeter to maintain privacy and the integrity of the investigation site.
