In Grand Junction, Colorado, two police officers were seriously injured earlier this week after being assaulted by a 38-year-old man. The incident unfolded in the parking lot of a Walmart on North Avenue when officers responded to a report of a man harassing staff and patrons. The suspect allegedly struck both officers before being taken into custody. Both officers received hospital treatment for their injuries and have since been released.
The suspect, identified as Bobby McCarley, was also transported to the hospital for evaluation. Following his release, he was taken to the Mesa County Detention Facility. McCarley faces a multitude of charges, including two counts of second-degree assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, second-degree burglary of a retailer, theft, and menacing. He was also booked on an existing warrant.
