Kozhikode city police have arrested a 25-year-old man, Manikandan, in connection with multiple gold chain snatchings targeting women walking alone. He was apprehended near Pavamani Road while attempting to escape to Tamil Nadu. Manikandan, a native of Chembakkunnu, was part of a duo that allegedly snatched a woman's gold chain on June 19 in Varattyakal-Chelur.
To evade law enforcement, the suspects concealed their motorcycle's license plate and took indirect routes after committing crimes. This investigation involved the meticulous examination of over 200 CCTV footages and approximately 100 vehicles. The police noted four similar incidents had occurred recently within the district. The other accused reportedly initiated the robberies to offset business losses, recruiting Manikandan with a promise of profit sharing.
