A 40-year-old self-styled godman from Maharashtra's Palghar district faces charges for allegedly raping a 35-year-old woman. During the attack, the accused allegedly took photographs of the victim without her consent. He later used these images to blackmail her, demanding she meet him at a Vasai hotel for further sexual advances. The woman found the courage to report the crime after a similar case involving another 'godman' recently made headlines.
Authorities registered a Zero FIR due to the crime's primary location in Pune, subsequently transferring the case to the Hadapsar police station. The complainant indicated that the accused may have used a similar tactic to exploit other women. Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
