In a peculiar incident that unfolded late on Saturday in Rejma village, Sheohar district, a group of thieves attempting to steal goats found their plan foiled. The thieves had arrived in an SUV, using the cover of a noisy wedding celebration in the village to break into a house and load goats into their vehicle. However, alert villagers heard the commotion and gave chase, causing the panicked thieves to drive erratically.
The SUV veered off the road and became stuck in a muddy pit near the village. As villagers closed in, the thieves abandoned both the vehicle and the goats, fleeing into the darkness. Police were alerted and arrived to find the abandoned SUV and the livestock. The vehicle was seized, and efforts are underway to identify the owners using the registration number.
Officials noted that livestock theft, particularly using vehicles like SUVs, has seen an increase recently. They urge villagers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The stolen goats were eventually identified by their owners at the police station and returned, while a case has been registered against the suspects.
