Gilgo Victim 'Peaches' ID'd; Killer Lawsuit Filed
7 Apr
Summary
- Valerie Mack, known as 'Peaches,' was identified as a Gilgo Beach victim.
- Her son filed a lawsuit alleging torture and dismemberment by Rex Heuermann.
- The lawsuit also seeks profits from a documentary involving Heuermann's family.

New York authorities have identified Valerie Mack, a 24-year-old from Philadelphia, as a Gilgo Beach serial killer victim known as 'Peaches.' Her remains were discovered in a park in Lakeview, New York, in 1997, and later in Manorville in November 2000. Mack's only child, Benjamin Torres, has filed a civil lawsuit against accused serial killer Rex Heuermann and members of his family.
The lawsuit alleges that Mack endured torture before being killed and dismembered by Heuermann. Torres is seeking compensation for the alleged brutality and for the harm inflicted by the concealment of his mother's remains. Heuermann, who was charged with Mack's death in late 2024, is accused of killing seven women between 1993 and 2010 and is expected to plead guilty.
Additionally, the suit targets Heuermann's ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, and daughter, Victoria Heuermann, seeking a share of profits from the Peacock documentary "Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets." The lawsuit asserts that Ellerup and Victoria Heuermann may have known about or concealed facts related to Mack's murder. Legal arguments are also being made to waive New York's two-year statute of limitations for wrongful death lawsuits due to Torres's age at the time of his mother's death and the delayed identification of her remains.
