Financial Woes Fuel Ghaziabad Triple Suicide Tragedy

A distressing triple suicide case in Ghaziabad has taken a new turn with revelations of the father's severe financial distress. Sources indicate the father, Chetan Kumar, incurred a debt of Rs 2 crore. He recently admitted to suffering a loss of Rs 20-30 lakh in the online trading sector. This financial turmoil may explain why the three sisters, aged 16, 14, and 12, had not been attending school for two to three years.

The sisters died by suicide by jumping from the ninth floor of their residence. A diary left behind detailed their deep affection for Korean culture, K-Pop music, dramas, and films. Their father had confiscated their phones and prohibited them from watching Korean shows, which he believes led them to take the extreme step. Kumar mentioned that the girls had even changed their names to Aliza, Cindy, and Maria, and expressed anger at references to India.

Police investigations suggest the sisters had created a popular social media account, which their father deleted 10 days prior to the incident, also confiscating their phones. The father stated that his daughters had warned him they would 'die if they didn't get Korean.' The incident occurred at 2:15 AM on a Tuesday, following which neighbors raised an alarm. A suicide note and wall scribbles were found at the scene.

Chetan Kumar has two surviving children from two marriages. The family, including both wives (who are sisters), resided together. The victims included one daughter from his first marriage and two from his second. Initial theories involving a Korean gaming app were later dismissed by the police.
