A businessman in Ghaziabad, Saleem Wastik, is in critical condition after a violent attack in his office on Friday. Two individuals, wearing helmets, entered his ground-floor office and repeatedly stabbed him. The assault resulted in multiple injuries to his abdomen and throat.
Wastik, 55, is known for his outspoken views, often sharing videos and engaging in discussions that question religious fundamentalism. He sustained critical injuries and was initially taken to a local hospital before being referred to GTB hospital in Delhi.
Police have launched an investigation, forming teams to identify and apprehend the suspects who arrived and fled on a motorcycle. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed, and local residents are being questioned.
Wastik's son has identified five individuals he suspects are behind the attack, leading to an FIR being registered for attempt to murder. Friends have indicated that Wastik's questioning of religious orthodoxy may have been a motive.
