29 Jan
Summary
- Gervonta Davis arrested in Miami on domestic violence charges.
- Charges include attempted kidnapping and battery from October incident.
- Davis previously faced other domestic violence accusations.

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis was arrested in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday after a two-week search. The arrest followed a warrant issued on January 15, 2026, by Miami Gardens Police for alleged false imprisonment, battery, and attempted kidnapping. These charges relate to an incident that occurred in October. Police stated that surveillance footage corroborated the victim's account of Davis allegedly grabbing her by the hair and throat and attempting to forcibly move her.
Davis, 31, was arrested with bail set at $16,000 (£11,500). This incident adds to a history of legal troubles. He is also facing a civil lawsuit filed in October by a former girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, accusing him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She is seeking over $50,000 in damages and has requested a jury trial.
This is not the first time Davis has faced domestic violence allegations. Six months prior, another ex-girlfriend dropped a domestic violence case against him. He was also arrested on battery domestic violence charges in February 2020 and again in December 2022. In 2023, Davis served 44 days in jail for violating house arrest terms related to a 2020 hit-and-run case in Baltimore.
