Germany Football HQ Raided in Euro 2024 Corruption Probe
1 Jul
Summary
- German football association headquarters raided Wednesday.
- Probe concerns illegal benefits and preferential ticket access.
- Allegations involve organizers and host city officials.

Investigators executed raids on Germany's football association headquarters and multiple other sites on Wednesday, initiating a corruption probe tied to the recent Euro 2024 tournament. The investigation is centered on claims that employees of German host cities were improperly offered invitations to matches and received tickets under favorable conditions from tournament organizers.
The German Football Association (DFB) confirmed its Frankfurt offices were searched. While officials have not specified all targeted locations, reports indicate that several city administrations, including those in Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Munich, were among the raided sites, along with various companies.
Authorities stated the investigation concerns "unauthorised benefits" allegedly provided, including access to international football matches. A host city employee is accused of accepting these benefits from individuals within the organizing company. Furthermore, host cities were purportedly offered exclusive pre-purchase rights for tickets by the organizing entity.
Euro 2024 was held across Germany in June and July 2024. This development comes just two days after the German national team was eliminated from the World Cup.
