In Marietta, Georgia, three parents have been arrested following the discovery of 15 children living in severely neglected conditions. Police conducted a welfare check at a two-bedroom apartment complex and, after obtaining a search warrant, found 18 individuals inside: three adults and 15 children ranging from 1 to 17 years old.
The conditions within the apartment were described as deplorable, with a lack of basic necessities. Warrants indicated that the children were not provided with adequate food or hygienic provisions, and there were insufficient sleeping arrangements, with only nine beds for 18 occupants. Signs of mold were also noted in multiple areas.
The Department of Family Services intervened, ensuring the 15 children were removed from the environment and placed into safe care. The three adults, identified as Ashley Jackson, Derrick Jackson, and Briana Reynolds, were taken into custody. Ashley Jackson and Briana Reynolds face charges including first and second-degree cruelty to children. Derrick Jackson faces similar charges, along with an additional charge for allegedly crossing a guard line with contraband, as marijuana was reportedly found concealed upon his arrival at the jail.
