Man Shot Dead After Carjacking Attempt With Kids Inside

In Garland, Texas, a man was killed on Sunday afternoon after a series of attempted carjackings. Police responded to a crash near State Highway 66 and Dairy Road, where they found a driver had struck two vehicles before stopping. The suspect then attempted to forcibly take several vehicles in a gas station parking lot without success.
The suspect then moved to a convenience store parking lot and targeted a family in a white sedan, which included two women and several children. A struggle ensued when the suspect attempted to take the car. During the altercation, the driver of the sedan used a handgun to shoot the suspect.
Paramedics transported the suspect to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased suspect pending notification of next of kin.
