Summary
- Haryana STF arrested a sharpshooter linked to gangster Deepak Nandal.
- The suspect opened fire on police, but officers' vests stopped bullets.
- The arrest is tied to an alleged plot to extort a Gurgaon businessman.

In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police apprehended Nivesh alias Dilla, a sharpshooter linked to gangster Deepak Nandal, near Bandhwari village on April 14, 2026. This arrest followed an intense encounter where Nivesh allegedly opened fire on the STF team attempting to intercept him. Two officers' bulletproof vests deflected the rounds, preventing injuries during the early morning confrontation.
Intelligence indicated that Nandal, operating from abroad, had assigned Nivesh to carry out a shooting at a Gurgaon businessman's office for extortion purposes. The STF team, acting on this information, set up a blockade. Nivesh attempted to flee on a motorcycle and fired multiple shots at the police. In self-defense, officers returned fire, resulting in Nivesh sustaining a bullet injury to his leg.
Preliminary investigations reveal Nivesh's involvement in weapon supply for previous criminal incidents, including a Karnal firing case and a suspected role in facilitating weapons for a February 2026 Gurgaon incident targeting a businessman. Nivesh is wanted in connection with an FIR registered on February 26, 2026. Further interrogation aims to uncover details about the gang's network and other members.
