13 Mar
Summary
- Groom arrested from wedding mandap in Bhopal.
- Bride pleaded for release or marriage in police custody.
- Gang active since 2018 with over 50 members arrested.

A wedding celebration in Bhopal was disrupted on Wednesday when police apprehended the groom, identified as gangster Akash alias Bhura, directly from the wedding mandap. His bride, Seema, desperately appealed to the authorities to release Akash, even requesting to complete the wedding rituals within police custody, as her life would be ruined.
Akash is the alleged leader of an "illegal gang" operating in Bhopal since 2018, with more than 50 members. Police records indicate 31 cases against him, including murder charges. The arrests were reportedly linked to a recent kidnapping and assault case where a priest was held captive and extorted.
The gang allegedly kidnapped a priest, assaulted him, and demanded Rs 8 lakh. The victim managed to escape and filed a complaint, leading to the swift investigation and subsequent arrests, including Akash's dramatic capture during his own wedding.
Akash and Seema had been in a relationship for six years. The arrested individuals, including Akash and his associates, were presented in court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.
