- Impersonated a legitimate business while operating unlicensed.

Unique Green, 47, a Houston funeral home operator, was arrested on July 21, 2026, facing charges of theft exceeding $300,000 and four counts of forgery. Green allegedly operated an unlicensed establishment named A Community Funeral Home. After being hired by the family of 78-year-old Lawrence Gammon for his burial services in June 2026, Green reportedly submitted a forged will. This document falsely claimed he was Gammon's spouse and sole heir, enabling him to steal nearly $2.2 million from bank accounts and three vehicles.
Investigators discovered Green had been impersonating a legitimate Houston funeral business, using its contact information to operate undetected. He also established an account using a falsified death certificate under the name "Estate of Lawrence E Gammon." Police raided the funeral home in November 2026, discovering boxes of cremated remains. Several families have reported waiting up to two years for their loved ones' remains, with allegations that bodies were transported in U-Haul vehicles. A judge set Green's bond at $800,000 on July 22, 2026.
