A fire incident occurred at the Fulton County Jail on Friday night, resulting in multiple hospitalizations. Authorities reported that a detainee intentionally set fire to plastic trash bags and Styrofoam food trays within a shower on the seventh floor of the north tower.
The blaze prompted an immediate response, with ten individuals, including both inmates and staff, requiring hospitalization. Fortunately, most of those affected have since been discharged, though one detainee is still receiving medical care.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the inmate who initiated the fire while out for free time will be charged. The investigation into the cause and the individual's actions is ongoing.
