Summary
- Fugitive Nicholas Rossi died from medical complications in Utah prison.
- He was serving time for sexual assault convictions in Utah.
- Rossi had previously claimed to be dead to evade charges.

Nicholas Rossi, a fugitive accused of faking his death in 2020 and fleeing to Europe, has died in a Utah prison. He was serving a sentence of at least 10 years for two sexual assault cases tried in Utah in 2025.
Rossi, 38, passed away on Thursday night due to complications from a pre-existing medical condition after he chose to cease medical treatment. This conclusion follows a protracted international pursuit and extradition process from Scotland.
The fugitive had previously been declared dead on February 29, 2020, by an online obituary claiming he succumbed to non-Hodgkin lymphoma. However, authorities and his former legal counsel cast doubt on this claim.
He was apprehended in Scotland in 2021 while receiving COVID-19 treatment. Hospital staff identified him by distinctive tattoos, despite his claims of being an Irish orphan named Arthur Knight, and investigators noted he used at least a dozen aliases.
Two women in Utah accused Rossi of sexual assault. One alleged he raped her after stealing money, while another testified he manipulated her into financial debt for dates and personal expenses.
Rossi maintained his innocence during a sentencing hearing last October, stating the accusations were false.
