Summary
- Ex-Army captain convicted of murder apprehended in Madhya Pradesh.
- He evaded capture for nearly four years after his conviction.
- The conviction was for strangling his wife in Abohar in 2013.

Sandeep Tomar, a former Army captain sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Shweta Singh, has been arrested. Fazilka police apprehended him in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, nearly four years after he absconded following his conviction in September 2022.
Tomar, originally from Kanpur, was posted at Abohar cantonment when he committed the crime in 2013, just five months after his marriage. He strangled his wife and initially claimed it was a suicide.
The victim's father, Ram Naresh, filed a complaint leading to a dowry harassment case. Investigations revealed the death was a murder. Tomar was previously arrested and out on bail before his conviction by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
He had altered his appearance and adopted a new identity to evade law enforcement while working at a juice factory in Chhindwara. Technical surveillance and assistance from Madhya Pradesh Police led to his capture. He was brought to Abohar and remanded to judicial custody.
