Friends Murder Man Over Missing Cash in Haridwar Trip

A chilling murder, which occurred nearly 40 days ago, has come to light in Sonipat with the discovery of a 35-year-old man's decomposed remains. The victim, Vivek, was allegedly killed by his two friends, Vikram and Preetam, following a dispute over Rs 18,000 that went missing during a trip to Haridwar.
According to police, Vivek, a driver who financially supported his family, had traveled to Haridwar with the accused on August 1. After their return, the friends allegedly lured Vivek out again, leading to his murder. His family reported him missing after he became unreachable for several days.
During police questioning, Vikram and Preetam reportedly confessed to the crime. They led investigators to a culvert near the Panipat bypass in Gohana, where Vivek's skeletal remains were found. An identity card helped confirm the victim's identity amidst severe decomposition.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fatal argument began when Preetam suspected Vivek of stealing the money. The accused allegedly purchased a knife for Rs 10 to carry out the attack and subsequently disposed of the body. Both arrested individuals are from nearby villages and are expected to be produced in court for custodial remand.
