Fresno Shooting: Innocent Bystander Hit in Gunfire

A shooting incident at the Pleasant Village Apartments in central Fresno on Sunday morning resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two women. The victims were identified as 35-year-old Mariano Cabrera, who later died from his wounds, and two women, one of whom was an innocent bystander taking out trash when she was struck by gunfire. The other injured woman was also caught in the crossfire during the event.

Authorities determined that an unidentified man entered the apartment complex and fired upon three individuals. In response to community concerns and to address potential gang involvement, the Fresno Police Department has deployed proactive units and increased patrols along Pleasant and Fedora Avenues. Despite this incident, police report a 30% decrease in homicides and a 28% drop in shootings year-to-date compared to last year.

The Fresno Police Department is appealing to the public for any surveillance footage that could help identify the suspect. The community, shaken by the violence, is concerned about safety, with one neighbor noting the area's history of gun violence. A candlelight vigil for Mariano Cabrera is scheduled for Monday night.
