Ex-Turnstile Guitarist Accused of Car Attack on Singer's Father

Brady Ebert, a former guitarist for the acclaimed band Turnstile, was arrested on April 1 in Maryland. He faces charges including attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault following an alleged incident on March 29. Ebert is accused of using his vehicle to strike 79-year-old William Yates, the father of Turnstile's lead singer, Brendan Yates.

According to charging documents, Ebert arrived at Mr. Yates' home and began honking his horn and yelling. As the elder Yates walked up his driveway, Ebert allegedly accelerated his car, swerving to hit him with the vehicle, causing trauma to his lower extremities. The entire event was reportedly captured by a neighbor's surveillance camera.

Turnstile stated they had 'cut ties' with Ebert in 2022 due to a pattern of harmful behavior and only after attempting to support his recovery. The band noted that his threats had escalated in recent months, culminating in this alleged physical attack. They expressed gratitude that Mr. Yates survived and had undergone surgery.

Police reports detail that surveillance footage shows Ebert driving toward Mr. Yates, who backed away and threw a rock. Ebert then allegedly put his car in reverse and drove at Yates again, before accelerating into the driveway and striking him. Yates reportedly told detectives he feared for his life and that Ebert had taunted the family for a long time, with behavior escalating, including a near-miss incident earlier in March.
