Summary
- Kathryn Dennis sued over 2024 DUI crash
- Victim claims "serious" injuries from the accident
- Dennis sentenced to 30 days in jail for the incident

In a recent legal development, former Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis has been hit with a lawsuit from a man who claims he suffered "serious" injuries in a 2024 DUI crash involving the reality TV personality. According to the lawsuit filed on August 14, 2025, the plaintiff, Larry Patrick Griffin, was driving a 2012 Honda sedan on May 20, 2024, when Dennis, who was operating a 2018 GMC pickup truck, allegedly smashed into a 2017 Nissan pickup truck, causing it to strike Griffin's vehicle from behind.
Griffin alleges that Dennis was "under the influence and sway of alcohol and/or controlled substances" at the time of the accident, which he claims was solely due to her negligence. As a result of the crash, Griffin says he has "suffered serious bodily injury, pain and suffering, and mental anguish, and will continue to do so in the future." He is seeking unspecified damages from Dennis.
In a separate incident, on October 3, 2025, Dennis was sentenced to 30 days in jail for the same May 2024 drunk driving crash on Highway 52 in South Carolina. Officers who responded to the scene reported that witnesses claimed Dennis appeared impaired, and an unopened mini bottle of Fireball was found in her car.
