Summary
- Former East Point officer found guilty on all counts of sexual assault.
- Accused of targeting vulnerable victims, including a minor.
- Sentencing date to be determined by the judge later.

A former East Point police officer, Richard Gooddine, has been found guilty on all counts in a retrial concerning sexual assaults allegedly committed while he was on duty. The jury reached its verdict after deliberations that began on Tuesday morning. Prosecutors argued that Gooddine preyed on victims whose vulnerabilities made them targets, including a 15-year-old girl experimenting with drugs and a woman arrested for shoplifting.
The state presented evidence including surveillance footage showing Gooddine arriving at a hospital in uniform shortly after one victim reported an assault by him. Defense attorneys contended that the case lacked sufficient evidence and that reasonable doubt existed. They suggested Gooddine was at the hospital for other reasons. Sentencing for Gooddine will be scheduled in the future.
