Ex-News Anchor Charged with Murdering Elderly Mother in Kansas

In a shocking turn of events, a former news anchor has been accused of murdering her own elderly mother. On October 31, 2015, police in Wichita, Kansas responded to a reported cutting at a residence and found 80-year-old Anita Avers unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds. Avers was rushed to a local hospital but tragically passed away that same morning.

The suspect, 47-year-old Angelynn "Angie" Mock, was standing outside the home when police arrived. Mock was also treated for undisclosed injuries and taken into custody at the Sedgwick County Jail. She has since been charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Mock previously worked as a news anchor and reporter for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015 before transitioning into sales. At the time of her arrest, she was employed by a data management software company.
