- Amrita, a forensic science student, allegedly planned the murder with ex-boyfriend and his friend

On October 28, 2025, it was revealed that Amrita Chauhan, a 21-year-old forensic science student, is accused of plotting the brutal murder of her live-in partner, UPSC aspirant Ramkesh Meena. The disclosure adds a new twist to the case, as it was discovered that Amrita's family had already disowned her over a year before the alleged crime.
According to the Delhi Police, Amrita had been living with Meena since May 2024. The relationship soured after she discovered that he had secretly recorded her private videos and refused to delete them. Enraged and feeling humiliated, Amrita allegedly turned to her ex-boyfriend, Sumit Kashyap, who agreed to "teach Meena a lesson" and brought his friend Sandeep Kumar into the plan.
The trio is said to have traveled from Moradabad to Delhi on the night of October 5-6, 2024. CCTV footage showed two masked men entering Meena's building, followed by a woman, later identified as Amrita. Around 2:57 am, Amrita and one of the men were seen leaving, and minutes later, a massive explosion tore through the flat, reducing much of it to ashes.
Investigators later found that the blast had been deliberately triggered to disguise the murder. Amrita and her accomplices are accused of strangling Meena, pouring flammable substances on his body, and then opening a gas cylinder valve to set off the fire, locking the flat from inside to make it look accidental.
Amrita's forensic training is said to have helped her plan the cover-up and mislead investigators. Initially suspected to be an air-conditioner blast, the fire's burn pattern and CCTV evidence soon raised suspicion, leading to Amrita's arrest on October 18, 2024. During interrogation, she confessed to the crime and described how she and her accomplices killed Meena and set the flat ablaze.
