14-Year-Old Arrested for Attempted Murder by Arson

Authorities in Lehigh Acres, Florida, have arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection with a house fire that endangered a sleeping family. The incident occurred early on Saturday, January 3, 2026, when the Lee County Sheriff's Office and fire department responded to a blaze on Paisley Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a propane tank and a homemade incendiary device near the front of the home.

The four occupants of the house managed to escape the flames by fleeing through a window, sustaining no injuries. Investigators were subsequently told by witnesses that the suspect had briefly interacted with the victims shortly before the fire. The teenager was apprehended at his residence, where he allegedly admitted to his involvement in the arson and his intent to cause fatalities.

The suspect has been charged with several serious offenses, including four counts of attempted felony murder, arson, and making a destructive device. He was subsequently transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice. One of the residents described the event as deeply traumatic, highlighting the lingering fear and distress experienced by the family.
