A 26-year-old florist, Johana Barrera Delgado, is facing serious felony charges in Doral following allegations of severe child abuse. Authorities state her 7-month-old son was discovered with multiple fractures in various stages of healing, indicating prolonged abuse. The investigation began on December 11, 2025, when Delgado brought the child to Holtz Children's Hospital for a leg injury.
Medical examination revealed a spiral fracture in the left femur and fractures in both tibias, all appearing to be in different stages of healing. These injuries suggested a pattern of physical harm. Barrera Delgado initially attributed the injuries to a babysitter, but this account was later contradicted.
Further inquiry revealed that Barrera Delgado allegedly instructed the babysitter to maintain a false story, leading to a witness tampering charge. She has since reportedly admitted to the allegations and is currently held on bond, with additional holds pending court proceedings.
