Florida man threatens teens with knives over engine noise

A heated disagreement over go-kart engine noise in Clermont, Florida, resulted in felony charges for a local resident. Richard Carter was arrested after allegedly confronting two teenagers working on a go-kart, threatening them with kitchen knives and a meat cleaver.

The confrontation began when the teens revved the go-kart engine, prompting Carter to yell at them, throw a lawn chair, and demand they leave. Investigators stated Carter then armed himself with a chef-style knife and a meat cleaver, threatening the teens. One teenager reportedly pleaded for their safety while the other backed away with raised hands.

Body camera footage captured Carter acknowledging he grabbed the "first thing" he could in anger. He faces two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. Carter was released on bond totaling $10,000 on June 9, 2026.
