A 38-year-old man from Big Pine Key, Florida, is facing multiple charges after a welfare check revealed he was allegedly driving under the influence with a child present. Jamie Allan Koval was apprehended Wednesday evening by Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Deputies located Koval driving on Key Deer Boulevard with a 6-year-old in the truck, who was not secured by a seatbelt. Koval appeared intoxicated and refused to exit the vehicle, subsequently failing sobriety tests. He is also accused of making severe threats against the deputy and their family.
Koval was charged with DUI with a minor, resisting arrest, child neglect, and threatening law enforcement. The child was transferred to family care, and child protective services were notified of the incident.
