An innocent mother-of-four, Joanne Penney, was tragically killed in a gang-related shooting on March 9 last year. The 40-year-old was shot at close range after opening the door to a flat she was visiting in South Wales. Marcus Huntley, 21, admitted to pulling the trigger and was found guilty of murder.
Jurors at Cardiff Crown Court also convicted four co-defendants: Jordan Mills-Smith, Joshua Gordon, Melissa Quailey-Daspher, and Kristina Ginova, of murder. The motive for the fatal incident was reportedly a clash between two rival drug gangs in the Talbot Green area. Another man, Tony Porter, was found not guilty of murder.
Evidence presented during the trial showed Huntley, Mills-Smith, and Quailey-Dashper arriving at the flat, with Huntley armed with the handgun used in the shooting. They subsequently returned to a car driven by Porter, where Gordon was also present. Ginova waited at a fast-food restaurant with Gordon's mobile phone. The convicted individuals will face sentencing at a later date.
